The Dirok JV aims to perform its operations in a safe and sustainable manner. As part of its operations, the Dirok JV capitalized on the well-developed ecosystem around the Oil & Gas industry in the areas near Dirok by adopting a local content policy in its project delivery.
The remote location of the field near the forest and wildlife sanctuary, as well as a limited time window to carry out surface activities due to weather conditions in Assam, posed significant challenges for fast track development. The Dirok JV, working under the able support and guidance of the Central and State Governments and an enabling policy framework, was able to execute the project and deliver “First Gas” from the field in a record time of 27 months from the approval of the Field Development Plan.

To make this project delivery a reality, several innovations needed to be embraced. These included early evacuation through Project KOPOU, outsourcing to expert partners, and a zero-emission gas gathering station.
This project is currently producing 35 mmscfd of natural gas and 800 barrels of condensate beyond expected. The success of the Dirok Development has now paved the way for HOEC’s future operations and strategy in the north-east with a number of expected synergies.
