HOEC’s PY-1 field is in the offshore part of the Cauvery Basin. The produced gas is evacuated by a 56 km long 14” sub-sea pipeline, that connects the offshore facility’s SUN Platform to the landfall point at Pillaiperumalnallur Village (PPN). The produced gas is currently being sold to GAIL, who further distribute it downstream to end customers.

This field produces from a complex basement reservoir. Due to a significant increase in the water cut, production rapidly declined after July 2011. After carrying out comprehensive studies, a two well re-entry campaign was completed in July 2018, increasing the production from 2 mmscfd to 10 mmscfd.

This re-entry campaign has further established significant upside potential from the tertiary reservoir. Drilling campaigns in the future will be planned after evaluating the techno-commercial risks involved in accessing the upside potential.
